My resolution was to open the email. Go to the print menu and select "Memo Style" under the Page Setup header. From there select the Paper tab and change it from custom to A4 then click on apply. That did the trickThank you, this solved the issue for me!
Hope it helps you.
I have been having a problem with Outlook 2007 printing to my printer. All other Microsoft Office products worked except for Outlook. Any printing I needed to do I had to convert to a pdf file and then print. I could not even do a print preview. I had tried reinstalling printer and resetting it to default and those efforts did not work. I tried the above and selected define style and then did a print preview from there and it seems to have fixed the problem. I no longer have an issue priinting from Outlook. I did not have to change any settings. I amn not sure what this did but it fixed the problem and Microsoft Outlook recognizes the printer now.
Thank you,
Socceral
could anyone solving this problem ? i have tried PPA-Inc but it didn't work.

please help me to solve this problem.
Same problem here; I thought it was the latest Outlook update but it's not the case.
Closing and re-opening outlook seems to solve the issue for some hours. In my case, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959645 is not applicable, my Word 2007 version is newer.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Simone
i already re-opening outlook 10 times and rebooted the pc but the error still same. could anyone help us?

i think my office is uptodate.
Hi there, sitting in an office now having exactly the same problem, worked fine before up until yesterday.
Can print ok from outlook 2007 but when trying to print preview get the 'There is a problem with the selected printer...'
Have tried checking the memo style's were set to A4 and not custom.
Tried the hotfix but already on SP2
installed reinstalled printer but no joy
running windows 7 pro 32bit and office 2007.
If its an update, which one is it so it can be removed, suspect we going to see a lot of this!

Thank you Matt. Removing the latest update KB2509470 solved the printing problem from Outlook 2007. Seems that Microsoft is no longer testing own software before putting it into production .....
Honestly, there are millions of computers out there all with a unique set of hardware and installed software. It's not possible to test any patch under 100% of the possible conditions. I'm quite surprised on the track record and the relatively small number of bad updates. This thing is bound to happen, and at least this one is easily fixed.
**Edit** Searching the web, this seems like more than few people with the problem. I'd like to change my answer to "Poor testing indeed"

Uninstalled Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 KB2509470 and all is well.
This was my issue as well. The update was installed 2:00am this morning (4/15/2011).
Thanks!!!
Ran across this also. I hope it only affects a small number of users. I'm not looking forward to a flood of phone calls over the next few days from clients who cant print from outlook. On the bright side, I know how to fix it now ;)
Thanks Matt

Any chance Microsoft is going to fix this? I'm wondering if I should decline deployment of this patch to the rest of my clients...Further to my last, i've fixed it!

Unless you NEED something this patch does, I'd decline it for sure.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2509470
Windows XP with Service Pack 3 + Office 2007 with Service Pack 2 is as common as it gets in most business computing environment due to some incompatibilities with older applications running on Windows 7. 90% of our clients ARE NOT using Windows 7 AT ALL because the hardware requirement for Windows 7 jumps in memory, CPU, and disk space usage.
The next combo to jump to is Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 + Office 2007 or Office 2010. I have not heard of a problem with that combo.
If this Outlook 2007 patch is causing a problem like this, then I would prefer a Office 2007 SP3 instead.
Microsoft -> please pull the patch and fix it first. QUICKLY!
Great work, I really appreciate that you found the solution.
we have stopped our Windows Update server from pushing this update over to all our computers.
Regards,
Thank you matt for your solution, i'll try in monday n i'll inform you after that.
Thanks Matt, you solution solved my problem! "Uninstalled Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 KB2509470 and all is well."
This is only one of a very few issues I have ever had with Microsoft's updates! Microsoft does a pretty damn good job in my opinion! Although, I understand even one small mistake can affect millions of users. Big responsibility, glad it's not mine!
i'm sorry mat, i wanna ask regarding this issue.
In my issue, i can't print and preview. but in your issue, you can print and can't preview right ?
is that same issue ?

This update was recalled by Microsoft and will be rereleased shortly. Installing the current update does not let the user print by using the Print Preview pane in Outlook.

Hello Folks,
Go into add remove programs and remove kb 2509470 and reboot.
I recived the same error at about the same time as everyone else and it appeared on both computers of my home network.
I know it is not any of my printers at all as I have 4 different printers on the network, some direct connected to a PC and others as network printers. None will print from outlook including not being able to print to Adobe.
(I can print to Adobe if I use Adobe's direct print from drop down box)
I can print normally from any other Office 2007 application - it only effects Outlook 2007
I ran repair on Office 2007, Repared/ re linked my Registry (Norton) all to no avail.
I uninstalled KB 2509470 and all back to normal - Both PC's
Thanks
I too uninstalled "Outlook 2007 update KB2509470" and it fixed my printing problem.
What follows are specifics on the issue. Before fixing it I found that I could still print by clicking the email's Office Button and selecting Quick Print.
Specifics: If I have an email open and want to print it, if I use the email's Office Button and select Quick Print it prints fine. If instead I select Print or Print Preview it opens the printer setup with Memo Style, etc. If I then print, it gives an error message "There is a problem with the selected printer. You might have to reinstall this printer. Try again or use a different printer." This happens with any printer (HP 8500, HP 2100, Adobe PDF, etc.I have run Office repair and have disabled all Com Add-ins but it still fails. If I start Outlook in Safe Mode, (Shift + click) it prints fine. All Windows and Office updates are installed.Operating System: Windows 7
Thanks, Matt, fixed the immediate problem, but was there any good reason for KB2509470?
Are we missing some other positive improvement?
Anyway, thanks for evrything you do.
CWulf
Thanks so much matt, I am able again to print from outlook 2007 with no problem.
I had been trying to figure out the problem, as it did not happen all the time and with every email. Sometimes I could print and sometimes no. I tried first the A4 idea suggested above but had no luck.
Question:
I am with CWulf, just wondering what are we missing by uninstalling KB2509470? I thought that normally Microsoft use each update was for more than one "fix".
Thanks for giving us such an easy fix. :)
Man, I'm glad I found this topic.
We recently changed out a few printers in our office and suddenly Outlook refused to print. I instantly thought it was the printers or their drivers so I was trying to reconfigure them and see what was wrong with them. Then I stumbled across this topic while looking for solutions. Once I removed the KB2509470 update on a test system, printing from Outlook resumed. Last week I had approve this update via WSUS for our whole organization - but it has now been flagged for removal off all workstations after this "hiccup".
Matt & forum...
Uninstalling that patch worked. however a few days later, the error came back. I checked the machine's update list and confirmed that the patch is still gone and not installed.
Any ideas? User can still print from any app Office, PDF, etc. The workaround right now is that the user will have to physically save the message offline or save the attachment. So the error comes up immediately when trying to print anything from Outlook straight up. Have you or anyone else seen this happen? Right now it just seems to be an Outlook problem still.

I have also been experiencing this problem.
Its as though MS do not check, (let alone double check), the update before they send it out.
A guy from Hewlett Packard has helped me out this time, (and he didn't really have to!), fair play to them!
I now have a warning note on my desktop to remind me to watch out for the return of this rogue update. When are MS going to update this update and state that it will cause no further problems?
I am still receiving this update notification everytime I log on to my computer so it doesn't look as though anything is being done about it.

Has anyone tried this yet and does it work?
More to the point what does it do and is it necessary for it to be uploaded and installed?
This worked for me to.
many thanks
