Having an issue across multiple sites concerning Office 2010, specifically Word and Excel. Usually, but not always, once a week users' MRU (Most Recently Used) file list under the "Open" menu in Word and Excel is cleared. This is happening on sites whose temporary files are not managed by any third party application (CCleaner etc) and the users themselves are not cleaning things up.
The issue is happening independently of all sites.
Has anyone experienced an issue similar to this? If so, any ideas on solutions? Nothing I've found online has helped so far.
Hi,
If I have understood you correctly that the recently ssed file list will be cleared for all sites. I would suggest you to check with your administrator to see if there is any group policy deployed in your organization, which might clear the history of recently used file.
Also, you can go to Run then type gpedit.msc and press Enter, then navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Template > Start Menu and Task Bar and see if there is any related settings configured out there.
Thanks,

Thanks for your response.
The sites currently only have drive mapping and printer policies in place. There are no other policies that have been set, including under Start Menu and Taskbar.
Could you please check if there is any security software or anti-virus in your site which might clear those privacy traces?
Thanks,

The list of Most Recently Used (MRU) files for Office is kept in a location of the Registry. The location is:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\File MRU]
Please check if there are any softwares, tools or policies that might clear up these registry entries in your network.
Thanks,

In regards to the site's group policies, there are none set in place to handle any kind of cleaning duties. The only policies in place, if any at all are in place, are drive maps and printers.
I've checked the registry string you mentioned and the computers have their MRU list count set to 25, but the most they'll display is ~10 items or so from the past couple of days.
