Office 2013

Our IT have installed Windows 8 Pro recently on my PC & Office 2013. Every time i open a office document i get a prompt to:

Connecting to proxy server for messaging.office.com.

I have disabled the settings under: File, Options, Trusted Center ..... Privacy. But it still comes up every time. Any advice?

Please respond to: williev1976@outlook.com as  i am not monitoring this site.

Many Thx.

Hi WillieVer,

This issue might be caused when you use an authenticating proxy, Office doesn't seem to know how to get through it. There are two methods you can try which might help you fix this issues:

Method 1

By Group Policy, type gpedit.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

User Configuration- Administrative Templates- Microsoft Office 2013- Tools | Options | General | Service Options...- Online Content

Online Content Options = Enabled

Online content options = Do not allow Office to connect to the Internet

Method 2

Configure proxy exceptions for the following (and possibly more):

officeimg.vo.msecnd.net

office.microsoft.com

odc.officeapps.live.com

office15client.microsoft.com

Please try these methods and let me know if they work. Im glad to help and follow up your reply.

Hope its helpful.

We have had the Group Policy described in place for some time. Only in the past few days has Office started prompting our users to log on to the proxy to access messaging.office.com (and one report of office15.microsoft.com).

I verified that the settings are still in our group policy object and that it is being applied to the clients. (Windows 7 with Office 2013)

I would rather prevent Office from access the internet then opening exceptions through our proxy. I assumed we can not be the only ones that have suddenly had this problem and I am hoping someone has found a solution.

EDIT - I forgot to mention that this is happening with the Volume license version of Office 2013. We also have some "click to install" versions that do not seem to have this issue.
