Office 2013 VS Office 365

Hi there,

I've been using Microsoft Office 2010 since but we have  anew comer and I have to buy a new copy of MS Office.

All I want is for the new colleague to be able to use standard, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Publisher, Access and especially Outlook.

I don't need any subscriptions to any service, I just want to but the latest 1 off MS Office Suite so the new colleague can view and edit documents.

Is MS Office 365 applications on the traditional Desktop the same as Office 2013 of which I should go ahead and buy that then?

Thanks for all your help in advance.

The versions of Word, Excel etc. in Office 365 and Office 2013 are currently the same, but I assume that Office 365 users will automatically get the 2016 versions when Office 2016 is released later this year.

To get Access, you'd need to buy Office 2013 Professional, which costs about the same as a subscription to Office 365 Home (which also includes Access) for 57 months - almost 5 years.

Hi Hans,

Thanks for the digest. So it should be better to get Office 365 Home then seeing Office Professional 2013's price is equivalent to almost 5 years of Office 365 and has all the applications I mentioned including Access + I get the extra benefits of whatever service 365 offers?

Do I get to keep the applications on my desktop if I cease to subscribe to Office 365 Home after the 5 year contract?

Also, can I use Office 365 Home legally in a workplace / office environment?

Thanks

For work, you'd need Office 365 ProPlus. It is more expensive but you can still get almost 3 years subscription for the price of 1 license for Office 2013 Professional. And each user can install it on up to 5 PCs, 5 tablets and 5 phones.

If you end the subscription, the software won't run anymore - Microsoft checks for a valid subscription.
