Office 2013 on Windows Thin PC

I am having an issue with Office 2013 on Windows Thin PC. It opens up just fine but after going into the Save As menu, if I click on any of the buttons to open the directory window (such as Browse) it crashes the application and points to kernelbase.dll (which doesn't really help a lot). It works fine on Windows 7 Pro but Windows 7 Thin PC seems to have compatibility issues. It is consistent across all of the Office apps and all of our Thin PC machines. In my experience, this means that either there is some feature missing from the Thin PC image that I need to roll out or I'm simply out of luck and will need to potentially deploy it as a virtual app to get it to work. I was wondering if any of the Office 2013 experts knew of any core component that could be missing from the Thin PC image or if anyone has experience with this issue.

Thanks!

Hi Scott,

As you may have already known, the Office application crash error related to "KERNELBASE.dll" may occurs due to lots of reasons. I'm afraid it's hard for us to know which specific "feature" or "core component" is missing here, especially when it's installed on a non-supported operation system.

Windows Thin PC is not a supported Windows operating systems on which you can run Office 2013 program. It is specifically designed to be used as a thin client OS. It uses lower CPU cycles, with local application execution typically restricted to security and management.

So you cannot run any productivity applications, such as Microsoft Office or similar applications on it. If you do so, you might have unexpected issues.
