I have Microsoft Office 365 on a laptop. I want to use the Power Pivot add-in and realize that I need the Excel 2013 Professional version to accomplish this. If I purchase Excel 2013 Pro and install it on my laptop will I experience problems with two versions of Excel 2013 being resident on the same machine?

You will need Office 2013 Professional Plus, not Professional. Side by side installation will not work.

Power View and Power Pivot are available in the Office Professional Plus and Office 365 Professional Plus editions, and in the standalone edition of Excel 2013. Thus, I agree with Gil Raviv, we can't install them side by side. We may upgrade the Office 365 plans or purchase standalone edition of Excel 2013.
