I just installed Office 2013 from HUP on a disc on my Windows 8 computer. Why does it take forever for the applications to open, I only tried word and excel but I have to wait more than20 minutes for them to even open. What's the problem?

Try the following methods:

Open any Office application first, Word, for example, go to Word Options, click on "Advanced" tab, and look for the following option in "Display" section:

Disable hardware graphics acceleration

Enable this option, exit Word, and try to start any Office applications.
