Office Word 2013 - Unable to change colours in track changes

Hi

I am using Word 2013. I have a word document (saved as 97-2003 word doc) from my client's lawyers, which has gone through two rounds of editing (two colours - representing two authors which are not me). When I tried to edit on the document (as a third author), I was not able to change the colour of my editing, it shows up in the same colour as the font within the sentence I am editing (the only sign that there is a change in the document is the side line tracking on the side of the sentence where the change is being made, but the words show up in the same colour as the other words within that sentence). I have tried changing colours under the review pane but it does not work.

However, if I open the same document using Word 2007 which resides on another laptop, I have no issues with tracking changes.

We would like to use Word 2013 moving forward, would appreciate if anyone could help us on this.

Thanks.
