One user getting HTTP error 404 when unexplicity trying to access there OWA account
Hi there, I have a 2003 r2 server with exchange 2003/iis6 and have a problem where by only one user in the company is getting: HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. Internet Information Services (IIS) ----------------------------------------------- this happens only when the https://hostname or IP/eachange is used but does not happen when https://hostname or IP/exchange/username is used and this happens on numerous PCs on different networks. the account is given the log in page with, enters credentials and then gets the page which looks to load the form as the line that splits the inbox folders and emails appears and the error appears in either side??? I have tried and searched hard for a solution for this but to no avail, the user has a valid SMTP address with no migration of the like that has happened recently. It's the first time that the company has started using OWA since the network has been up and running which was 5 years ago.

I have gone over this article and the recipient policy is correct with the correct SMTP address against the user. The server is currently on Service Pack2 so this KB article is of no help. Thanks

there is only one exchange server, outlook is fine and this error appears only for the one account on numerous different PCs internally and externally on the network.

Hi, If you can access the mailbox using the full URL (https://hostname/exchange/username ), but cannot access the mailbox by logging on with the shorter URL (https://hostname/exchange), the access problem is likely related to authentication. Please follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem: 1. Reset user's password. 2. Disconnect the user with his mailbox, and then reconnect. 3. Create a new mailbox store, move the user to this new mailbox store.
