Open Other Users folder
We are using Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2003. We would like to give permission to two users to access a "sales" mailbox. I was able to make this work by giving the two users Full Access Permissions in Exchange Management console. Then opening the "sales" mailbox in outlook and changing the permissions on the Inbox folder. Is this the correct way to do this? Is it possible without giving the users Full Access Permissions? Thank youEZ

Full access permissions does not allow a user to send mail.. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996343(EXCHG.80).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996343.aspx

Thank you for the information. The articles describe what I have done, and it does works. We don't really want to give Full Access. Is it possible to give a user view access to one folder in the other mailbox? ie the Inbox or the Calendar. Thank youEZ

Hi EZ123, Based on your description, I understand that you want to give two users view access to one folder in the other mailbox, and you do not want to give them full access permission to that mailbox, am I right? I have done the test and please refer to the following steps to achieve your goal: 1. Open Outlook of the specific mailbox, from the Go menu, click Folder List. Then from the Folder List, right-click Mailbox-XXX, choose the Properties for “Mailbox-XXX”. 2. Click the Permissions tab, and then select the people whom you wish to grant permissions. After each selection, click Add. When you are done, click OX. 3. Now you can select which permissions to grant. We assign the role of Reviewer. To grant permissions, select a name from the box beneath “Name”, and then from the drop-down menu beside “Permission Level”, make your selection. Click Apply, and then OK. 4. And then, right-click the folder (Inbox) which you wish to share, choose Properties. 5. Refer to the step 2 and 3 to grant the Reviewer permission to whom you wish to share. 6. Now, the users whom you have granted permission will view the folder of the specific mailbox. Please feel free to let mi know if you have any questions. Best regards, Serena best regards, serena

Yes, you are correct in you explination. I did what you suggested but recieved an error. "Unable to display the folder. The information store could not be opened." I was able to make it work by doing the following. Set the mailbox folder permisions as you suggested. Then give the two users Full Access Permissions in Exchange Management console. Then remove the two users Full Access Permissions in Exchange Management console. Now the users do not have full access but are able to access the one folder they are given permision to access. Thank youEZ
