Options in Exchange Server 2013 to search old emails from backup

Hi All,

We have a requirement on searching individual emails for a particular user on the mentioned date from tape/storage backup. Is it possible to set that up in exchange server while taking backup in that way? or is it completely related to backup utility what we are using? Please help.

Thanks

Jey

I'm not sure what you're asking.  Are you asking for backups to include only specific search matches, or are you asking for a selective restore?  I know of nothing built into Exchange that do either.

You are welcome to investigate a product like Kroll OnTrack PowerControls or Dell Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange for third-party tools that might give you what you want.

Hi Jey,

Do you want to search message from backup storage? How do you backup your Exchange server?

For built-in search function in Exchange, it cannot achieve your expectation.
However, we can restore backup then deploy search.

Could you please brief a bit more so that, experts can provide you best possible solution to resolve your purpose ?

If I understand your query correctly, I can suggest you to have a look on our Lepide exchange manager tool that provides the option to search and restore mailbox items easily from available backup  or across EDBs, PSTs, Live mailboxes and Office 365.
