Out Of Office Query
Hi All I have a query regarding out of office mailflow I need to know what account on Exchange2007 processes or sends an out of office reply. The problem I am having is that external out of office responses are not going out. I know why this is happening ....it is due to a mailmarshal smart host stopping these from going out. There is a rule on the mailmarshal server which basicly only allows certain users/groups to send externally. On exchange when testing i can see that the exchange server sends this mail out but it will not get routed. What i need to know is on exchange is there a built in mail account i.e system attendant that sends these mails. an out of office response comes from the user but obviously it is processed byt the exchange server. I cannot alter the rule on mailmarshal but once it is turned off there is no problem. so basicly mailmarshal is seeing these mails coming from a user (i cannot figure out what user) and saying this user is not in the defined group so i cannot send. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

The Exchange 2007 calendar functionality for the Free/Busy data, Meeting Suggestions, and Out of Office (OOF) Assistant subcomponents, depends on the Availability Web Service. The Availability service provides a Web service interface to its functionality. The Web service exposes this functionality to clients by using open standards. Clients such as Outlook 2007 use the Web service to obtain up-to-date free/busy information. This including OOF and working hours. So answer for you is "Availability service" with the help of user maibox which is set for OOF Anil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com

You will have to create another rule on MailMarshal which has a higher prioirty and DONT base this on user/groups. You need to check for the reason why it was blocked and then allow that route to be delivered. As you know exch senders this, you may see this as <no-sender> in MailMarshall. Sukh
