Out Of Office issue with all user DL
Hopefully I am posting this in the correct forum.
We are running Exchange 2010 and a 3rd party app for some our distribution lists. The problem we are having is when someone that is allowed to send email to our all users DL and has their out of office set and receives an email from our all users DL their
out of office messages is sent to all of our users. Is there anyway to prevent this on exchange ? Thanks in advance.

Send out-of-office message to originator Select this check box to allow Out of Office messages from group members to be sent to the message sender. If this check box is selected, users who send messages to the distribution
group will receive Out of Office replies from any member that has an Out of Office rule turned on.
Clear this check box to prevent Out of Office replies from distribution group members to be sent to the message sender.Send delivery reports to group manager Click this button to send non-delivery reports (NDRs) to only the distribution group manager.
Send delivery reports to message originator Click this button to send NDRs to the message sender.

Thanks but unless Im missing something here the "All Users" DL is on a 3rd party app. The "All Users" DL is not hosted in the Exchange 2010 environment.

Would be easier if you can find out why you can't or tell them to create OLK rules to move/delete the messages.Sukh

So how to users send to this DL? Do they simply send to the SMTP address or is it integrated in the GAL? If the SMTP domain they send to is authoritative to Exchange, then the messages to it from internal users will never leave the Exchange
org unless its defined an a mail-enabled contact or you have some other process in place.

One of the problems is that we are coming off a 25 yr old pop mail system that they used a 3rd party "vacation notice" feature. They didnt set the out of office notification via outlook. Its hard for them to create a signature let alone creating rules
that will auto reply except if they are coming from <certain email address>. Its pretty much like teaching them how to walk again.

Well the way the 3rd party app works is it has send to permissions rather then send on behalf or send as. So certain people can send to it. When an email is sent to that DL it sends to everyone in that dl. If someone has send to rights and has an out of
office reply setup when the out of office reply is triggered it get sent to everyone on that list. Hope that makes sense.

So the All Users DL is in the GAL as an Exchange object? What is the SMTP address associated with it? A SMTP domain that Exchange handles or an "external" one?

Thanks for everyones replies but this falls under the 3rd party app. They have acknowledged it was a known issue and has given us a solution.
