Out of Office not working properly
Hi guys, Two forest: A.corporate.com and B.corporate.com I have a Exchange 2007 organization implemented into the B.corporate.com. Autodiscover is configured and OWA is working pretty fine. My user_1 is working into the domain A.corporate.com. This user has an account and a mailbox from the B.corporate.com forest. When he opens his outlook 2007 SP2 and connect to exchange with his credential from B.corporate.com,he has no trouble to use the "out of office"... BUT My user_2 is also working into the domain A.corporate. He also has an account and a mailbox from the B.corporate.com forest. He also has outlook 2007 SP2 but it can't use the Out of Office" option... when he tries he gets an error "Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed , because the server is currently unavailable " Just for information: On Exchange server 2007 (CAS) Framework 3.5.1 is installed. Any idea? Thx

Troubleshooting: 1. Does the issue only happen to user_2? 2. Does the issue happen to user_2 permanently? 3. Does the free/busy work for user_2? 4. Can user_2 set up the OOF via OWA? 5. How does the user_2 connect to the exchange server, outlook anywhere? 6. As framework 3.5.1 has been installed on the CAS server, have you seen KB 958934? 7. Is there any error event in the application log on the CAS server when reproduce the issue? 8. Please increase diagnostic logging to check whether any related error is encountered. Please enable diagnostic logging on following categories MSexchangeMailboxAssistants\Service MSexchangeMailboxAssistants\OOF Assistant MSexchangeMailboxAssistants\OOF Library MSexchangeIS\9000 Private\Rules 9. Collect OOF troubleshooting log a. Tools menu->click Options->click Other tab->click Advanced Options b. Select Enable logging (troubleshooting), and then click OK c. Restart outlook, and try to set OOF message Notes: Log folder C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\Olkas, check if has any error info James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

1. Does the issue only happen to user_2? No it happens to all users desktop except 2 desktop. If I connect any user_* on the desktop (the one which is working) there is no issue. Only 2 desktop success to use all functionalities (free busy, out of office etc..) 4. Can user_2 set up the OOF via OWA? Yes 5. How does the user_2 connect to the exchange server, outlook anywhere? He connects with outlook client (no cache mode) In A.corporate.com DNS there is a srv record that are pointing to CAS like this (the same srv is on B.corporate.com DNS) Service: _autodiscover Protocol: _tcp Port number: 443 host: webmail.B.corporate.com 6. As framework 3.5.1 has been installed on the CAS server, have you seen KB 958934 ? Yes, i"ve already checked it 7. Is there any error event in the application log on the CAS server when reproduce the issue? No error, permissions, certificats everything seems OK 9. Collect OOF troubleshooting log I've already activated this option... and it only writes something if I test with the good DESKTOP... if not it writes nothing.

Ok Guys... I resolved my problem. I create a xml file I named my xml file corporate.com.xml and I copied it in the folder "c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\outlookautodiscover". Then I enter a key into the registry under the following subkey: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft OFfice\Office12\OutlookAutoDiscover] "corporate.com" = "c:\program files\microsoft office\office12\outlookautodiscover\corporate.com.xml" And now any user from any machine can use the out of office and the free/busy. If any guys have any idea to have the same result but without modifying the registry or creating a xml file... please let me know. Thx :)
