Outlook 2003 Calendar changes from Busy/Out of office to free on it's own.

I've searched around a bit but I can't seem to find a thread that relates to my issue.
I have a user who claims that he sets appointments in his calendar to busy, out of office when he is busy or out of office.
But then it changes to free all of a sudden, and this happens regularly on most, if not all of his appointments.

This make our reception and him frustrated because they think he's free and redirects calls, tell people that he's free and to go see him in his office and so forth - when it's not the case. He's in fact busy, or might not even be in.

When I was searching around I found something that might relate. It said that this sort of thing might happen when upgrading your exchange server. It's been years since we did that, but I'm not quite certain of the time span of the problem. Thought I might add that in just in case that's an obvious issue.
