Outlook 2003 and VPN
I have a client that runs 2 servers, one server 2003 std and the 2nd exchange 2003 std one of the directors connects to the server by VPN to access files they have also been using Outlook 2003 which has been working ok until recently. you can connect the VPN and launch outlook and tells me the mailbox is not available. I am able to connect to the mailbox on one of out office machines which is running office 2007, this has also been loaded on the clients PC and is working ok. The clients will not upgrade to office 2007 as the solution as they have a number of laptop xp pro and outlook 2003 machines running ok. any ideas why this is? Thanks

Hi, This is probably a name resolution problem. Can you ping the exchange server from the workstation using the name Can you perform a net view \\exchangeservername from the workstation. If one or more of the above fails you could add the exchange servername to the hosts and lmhosts files on the workstation. Leif

NO to both of your ansewer BUT i can tell you that when I load outlook 2007 it works fine, I have since removed outlook 2007 and now outlook 2003 works fine This does not really help me as the problem may return I was lost when looking at the hosts and lmhosts files what should I be looking for?
