Outlook 2003 client not showing attachments from Mac Mail
Received email from sender, with a paperclip icon indicating an attachment is present. However on opening the email , the attachment is not present. Tried forwarding the email to myself in plain text, didn't work! Tried SAVE ALL ATTACHMENTS, that doesn't work! In the end I had to forward the email to a Gmail account, and the PDF attachment was visible. Now, I understand this issue has been addressed for Outlook 2010, by installing service pack 3 rollup 4. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2543879 However I was previously on Roll-up 3-V2 and jumped to Roll-up 5 - Is Rollup 5 a cumulative update, i.e. I don't need to install Roll-up 4, as Roll-up 5 contains roll-up also? The reason I ask is that after installing Rollup 5, the Outlook 2003 client is still now showing the attachment.

Is the ShowInlineAttachments in get-OrganizationConfig set to true? Take a look at the following article: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/outlook/thread/d507a6c5-6a34-48eb-8703-abd7a79d7c48 Another link, which describes the problem: http://www.cit.cornell.edu/services/alert.cfm?id=1265 Pano Boschung, PageUp AG

How was PDF attachment encoded in MIME? Application/octet-stream or Application/PDF? Use the steps in my reply in this thead to see how the attachment was encoded http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/32482e6b-082d-4997-a954-02c7bca53cfc/#45cd302b-2b52-4d83-8df3-bda07f5533ba ------=_NextPart_000_0158_01C91E22.7B6CF7B0 Content-Type: application/pdf; name="taughtli.pdf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="taughtli.pdf" is encoded properly and will work. On the other hand, something like: ------=_NextPart_000_0158_01C91E22.7B6CF7B0 Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="squarekn.pdf" Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64 Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="squarekn.pdf" is not encoded properly and will be blocked by outlook security. I think I remember this one. Inline attachment Exchange 2007 - Outlook 2003 specific. Had to search a bit, it's been a while, but here's a discussion of it: http://knicksmith.blogspot.com/2007/03/exchange-2007-and-outlook-2003-where.html J

Just to clarify , these attachments are not visible in Outlook 2003 or 2007 . only visible in OWA or Gmail etc. I do not have Outlook 2010 , so cannot test if works or not. The blogspot mentioned above doesn't work, have previously tried this.

Are you suggesting that I remove the following service pack 3 Roll-ups from my system; Remove Roll-up 1 Remove Roll-up 2 Remove Roll-up 3-v2 Remove Roll-up 5 Then install only roll-up 5? Can someone else comment if this is a good idea , and do not want to corrupt my system!

I'm guessing this fix doesn't work retropectively , i.e. it will not show inline attachments for emails sent prior to the rollup 5 install. It is now showing attachments to emails after rollup 5 was applied, and not prior. I guess this should be highlighed in the KB - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954684
