Outlook 2003 deleting, sending .. short delay with Exchange 2010
i've just recently upgraded ex2003 to ex2010 and have an issue with outlook 2003 clients (all of them), which are in Online mode. the problem is that when you delete in item from your mailbox it does not leave right away but lingers there for a while. it used to be couple minutes but then i found a workaround where i could lower the RPC polling time down to 5 seconds, so now it is a 5 second delay. the same goes for sending emails, which after hitting send button, an email sits in Outbox for about 5 seconds and then leaves. the problem here is when my users are deleting multiple items they think they didn't hit delete or X button to delete them and they go back to them and try to delete them again, where at this point "Unknown error" pops up. i tried running outlook 2003 in cached mode and didn't experience this problem, but we can't have our clients in cached mode so i was wondering if there is a fix for this? also tested with outlook 2010 and no problem what so ever. Thank you Hani

In Outlook 2003, e-mail messages take a long time to send and receive when you use an Exchange 2010 mailbox http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2009942 Mike Crowley Check out My Blog!

Mike, thank you for your reply, i've done all of the things described in the KB above prior to posting this. My questions was if there is a way to totally eliminate the delay. i've set the max polling to 5 seconds but for majority of our user thats just not good enough :) Hani

There is no "fix" at this time beyond the above KB. I'd suggest upgrading Outlook to 2007 or 2010. :) Mike Crowley Check out My Blog!
