Outlook 2007 & SBS Exchange
I am trying to get a new user connected to the exchange on SBS 2003
but I keep getting the message: "The connection to Microsoft Exchange
is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this
action." Or It says that the name can't be resolved.
The other users connect to exchange fine. I put in the exchange server
just like the other computers have it in the mail account settings.
They are using a servername.domainname.local
The computer has been formatted, the OS is XP Pro with all the latest
updates
1. User can get to / log in to OWA.
2. I checked the other computers email settings and they do not use Rpc/HTTP
They have SMTP virtual server set up.
User has no problem connecting to the Exchange server when starting
Outlook remotely; the issue arises when they try to authenticate. The
user can access all the files on the server so I know she connects to
the domain correctly.
I have searched and tried MANY different fixes but haven't found one
that is a solution yet.

It seems to be network error, DNS error,or account error.
Then you solve the problem by formatting and reinstalling the OS.

Which does issue arise when they try to authenticate?
Can’t user pass the authentication? Can you post any error about it?
What is version of your outlook?

The version of Outlook is 2007 OS is XP Pro SP3. The computer has joined the domain. Exchange is a SMTP virtual server. I have got the user authenticated by choosing not to set up email during the first use of outlook. I was able to add her account and authenticate
to the virtual server.
The errors I received were posted in my initial thread. I do appreciate your time in attempting to help me but I have got the user connected and working smoothly.
