Outlook 2007 (thru Outlook Anywhere) connecting to Exchange 2003 (takes more then a minute)
I've been experiencing latly a problem with Outlook 2007 (on Win 7 Pro) connecting to Exchange 2003 server over INET (stable 15mbit/1.5 mbit adsl). It works but it takes over 1 minute to start up and during that time outlook often freezes. In log file: 2009.11.15 23:33:02 <<<< Logging Started (level is LTF_TRACE) >>>> 2009.11.15 23:33:02 HELPER::Initialize called 2009.11.15 23:33:02 Initializing: Finding a Transport 2009.11.15 23:33:02 MAPI XP Call: XPProviderInit in EMSMDB.DLL, hr = 0x00000000 2009.11.15 23:33:51 MAPI Status: (-- -- ---/--- -- ---) 2009.11.15 23:33:51 MAPI XP Call: TransportLogon, hr = 0x00000000 2009.11.15 23:33:51 Initializing: Found a transport, Error code = 0x00000000 2009.11.15 23:33:51 MAPI XP Call: AddressTypes, hr = 0x00000000, cAddrs = 3, cUids = 1 2009.11.15 23:33:51 MAPI XP Call: RegisterOptions, hr = 0x00000000, cOptions = 2 2009.11.15 23:33:51 MAPI Status: (IN -- ---/OUT -- ---) 2009.11.15 23:33:51 MAPI XP Call: TransportNotify(BEGIN_IN|BEGIN_OUT), hr = 0x00000000 2009.11.15 23:33:51 HELPER::Initialize done, Error code = 0x00000000 2009.11.15 23:33:51 HELPER::GetCapabilities called, Error code = 0x00000000 it takes about 30 seconds to pass the first stage 2009.11.15 23:33:02 MAPI XP Call: XPProviderInit in EMSMDB.DLL, hr = 0x00000000 2009.11.15 23:33:51 MAPI Status: (-- -- ---/--- -- ---) What could be the reason of it? I've tried putting autodiscover.domain.com to 127.0.0.2 but it doesn't change anything. I have also tried deleting extend.dat which I have found somewhere. Is this exchange or maybe outlook problem ? How can i fix this?

Hi, It is hard to say whether it is a client side issue or server side issue based on current information. Would you please let me know whether the all the external client take one mins to start up and connect to Exchange Server through RPC over https or only specific client encounter the problem? If only one client encounter the problem, I think that it mostly is a client side issue or network side issue. Nevertheless, in order to identify the root cause of the issue, you need to gather network package and trace file when the issue occurs for analyze. Therefore, I think that it is not comfortable to troubleshoot the issue at forum. Therefore, if only one client encounter the problem, I suggest you disable all the thrid-party software and start Outlook with /Safe to check whether the issue persists. If the issue persists, I suggest you contact PSS support regarding the issue. If all the external clients encounter the problem, I also suggest you run EXBPA on the Exchange Server to do a health check. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mike Shen TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
