Outlook 2007 mailbox setup question...
I'm attempting to make Outlook 2007 setup automatically anytime a new user starts Outlook. When starting Outook for the first time with a new user, Outlook cannot connect and the mailbox name cannot be resolved. The Microsoft Exchange server box is populated with an LDAP string instead of the FQDN or NetBIOS name of the Exchange 2003 server. If I substitute the FQDN or the NetBIOS name for the Exchange server, the mailbox name resolves when the check name button is pressed and Outlook can complete its setup. Why is the server name automatically populating with an LDAP string instead of an FQDN or NetBIOS name? I really need to make the setup process run unattended.

Hi, To setup Outlook profile automatically anytime a new user starts Outlook, there are three options: 1. Use the Autodiscover service introduces by Exchange 2007 server. For more information, see “How Outlook 2007 and Autodiscover Interoperate” at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332063(EXCHG.80).aspx#OutlookAndAD. 2. Use Office Customization Tool to customize an installation of Microsoft Office with the specified Profile. For detailes, see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179097.aspx. 3. Use Group Policy to specify the Outlook profile when a new user starts Outlook. For details, see http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=22666. Since it is Exchange 2003, you may consider option 2 and 3. Option 1 is not available for you. Best regards, Fiona Liao
