Outlook 2007 still prompts for credentials
We are using:
- Outlook 2007
- Exchange 2007 (on windows srv. std. SP2 64-bit)
- Windows 7 SP1 and XP SP3
We have "experienced" these prompts for passwords for a while but after implementing a registry key it has been reduced to only a couple of errors. The reg key is as follows:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\RPC]
"UseWindowsUserCredential"=dword:00000001
But after implementing the reg key a couple of users are still prompted for credentials. Some only at start-up and others several times.
Any help will be much appreciated - thx in advance!

I have done dozens of installations using that combination and never had a single prompt, so I would be looking elsewhere for the cause of the problem.
Primary reason in my experience is issues with the SSL certificate - trying to use a self signed certificate, wrong names etc.
Second reason is due to a DNS issue, with autodiscover resolving incorrectly. Outlook will attempt to connect to a number of URLs if autodiscover isn't working which may resolve on your network. Autodiscover is not an optional feature to setup if you want everything
to work correctly.

Hi
We have autodiscover activated - any tips on how to troubleshoot this?
If I test konfiguration via CTRL - right click Outlook ikon it says (Log tab) Autodiscover to
https://post.xx.xx/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml succeeded (0x00000000)

As you said, a couple of users are still prompted for credentials.
So, perhaps it is caused by Save password setting not retained in Outlook or Outlook Express
I found a KB talking about that and give the solution, you can have a try
