Outlook 2010

Hi,

I recently changed my web hosting and when setting up my email accounts in outlook again the program automatically went to my old server even after setting up a new profile and deleting all my old data. So, after much head scratching the only way to get rid of these server names was to reinstall office. Now, when I set up a new profile, where previously it said "Personal Folders" at the top, it now says Outlook Data File. Why is this different to before?

Also, I have synced my contacts from my phone and they show up fine in the Contacts frame but when I'm writing a new email and click "To" my Address Book only lists the names. It's definitely the address book of the relevant email address. What's happened?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Colin

Navigate to: AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Delete the Outlook Data Files: *.ost files (e.g. outlook0.ost), outlook.obi, and outlook.tmp files in this folder.

Remove Profile: Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Mail then show profiles > Highlight profile and remove.

Click Add > Name the New Profile. Click okay. Apply.

#1 - If you didn't also set the new profile to be the default profile used the next time Outlook opened - the old email account info would be in play - mind you - it's not exactly clear in terms of what you're referring to "program automatically went to my old server" - are you referring to the actual account info or the name of the data store that appears in the Nav Pane

#2 - As for the "Outlook Data File" - that's normal behaviour when an IMAP account is configured and there is no other data store set to be the default for the profile. All comes down to the "types" and "sequence" email accounts were configured. As a for instance, if you configured a POP3 account first followed by an IMAP account - there would be no "Outlook Data File". Info related to what gets created and when is described in the following

This is due to ost file, you need to delete ost file and then again set your Outlook Profile only then you can configure and run it successfully.

To delete the ost file follow the steps given here http://www.ostfile.com/delete-ost-file.html

Thanks for your reply.

I've deleted my profile and folders/files in appdata/microsoft...... I created a new profile and default account and the program says "Outlook Data File". the same functionality is there I was just wondering why it was "Personal Folders" before.

I think you answered my other questions.
