Outlook 2010 converts bulletted text to strange characters

In some emails received in Outlook 2010, bulletted text that was sent in typical English shows up as Persian or Greek or some kind of unintelligible characters that I cannot identify.  Here's a sample:

    • What are the differences and reasons to choose having a coach, mentor coach, and shadow coach?
    • What do our clients get when we choose these different coaching experiences?

If the same email is read in gmail, it shows up as this (preceded by a bullet point, which I seem unable to insert here):

What are the differences and reasons to choose having a coach, mentor coach, and shadow coach?

What do our clients get when we choose these different coaching experiences?

What is causing this?  How can it be fixed?

    Thanks.

The sample you provided is rendering for me, using the Symbol font (those are Greek characters)

Assuming you authored the email, did you author the content in a standard font, or did you use an unusual/custom font ?

Windows will perform font substitution at the recipient-end, if a font is specified but  that specified font is not installed/available on the recipient pc. The font substituted can sometimes be unexpected, leading to incorrect layout, or, unintelligible.

Check the font used for the source document, and if it's not a commonly-used or commonly-available font, consider choosing a more commonly-available font.
