Outlook 2010 integration with OneNote 2013

I have Outlook 2010 installed and then Office 2013 installed for all other Office applications. The problem I have is when I try to click the Send to OneNote button in Outlook 2010, it still opens OneNote 2010 - not OneNote 2013. How do I fix this? I've tried installing the latest Office 2010 service pack for Outlook 2010 - I've tried manually adding the .dll for OneNote 2013, etc.

I had this combination of apps working on another machine - but I must have done it with luck - because I sure as heck can't figure out how to get it to work on purpose on my new machine.

Here is some basic troubleshooting steps for OneNote and Outlook Integration Issues:

However, we don't recommand our user install the different Office version  in one machine. There might be some Compatibility Issues between them.

The recommended articles did not solve the problem. There shouldn't be an issue integrating Outlook 2010 with OneNote 2013.

Additionally, there is an error when I try to unmark the response as the answer.

I am having this same issue can we get a reply? I'm not a Tech but it seems that something in outlook 2010 is saying to open the old version of OneNote. Is there a setting in Outlook that needs to be changed?

I looked at the dll file and it couldn't figure anything out.

Isn't Microsoft support horrible?

This issue is caused by OneNote 2010 being bundled with Office 2010. Here are some possible steps that could fix the problem.

1) (I do not know if this works, as I did step 2 first), try opening OneNote 2013>File>Options>Advanced>Default OneNote application> "Make OneNote 2013 the default application for......

2) If that doesn't fix the problem. You need to uninstall office and reinstall it, but this time when it gives you the options of what software to install, uncheck everything under OneNote.

3) Now install OneNote 2013 and follow the instructions in step 1.

4) Open all of your notebooks in OneNote 2013

4) Go to control panel>Unstall/repair a program>Office 2010> Add or remove features> Microsoft OneNote>Send to OneNote Add ins>Outlook integration. Enable Outlook integration.

5) Send something to OneNote from Outlook. It will probably open OneNote 2010 again (Doh!). While in OneNote 2010 open all of your notebooks again. Close OneNote 2010. Send something to OneNote again from Outlook. This time it should open OneNote 2013.

I have no idea why this worked for me, but it did.
