Outlook 2013: Removing duplicate email messages

Is there any method by which duplicate email messages in Outlook 2013 can be removed without a third party commercial software?

I had to combined various old pst files - that's how I ended up with duplicates.

Thanks!

When you import/combine a PST file into your profile, you can choose "Do not import duplcates".

Thanks! Just one clarification. If the file to be imported already has duplicates within it then would only one copy of that message be imported? BTW, in previous versions of Outlook ODIR used to work well for removing duplicates but it does not seem to work in Outlook 2013.

In my lab, the function is running well. If it runs unexpectedly in your Outlook 2013, you would still use some another mothod to remove the duplicate items in your PST file.

Filter and remove by Outlook feature : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299349

Or install free add-ins provided by Microsoft solution:

Thanks.

Don't you think that it would be fair to mention that 'free add-ins' are only trial versions and are 'free' for only 30 days? It would be nice if Microsoft would provide this tool truly free.

I downloaded ODIR too and it didn't install (threw an error during the install). The Filter and remove option also does not work for Outlook 2013. The instructions do not exist for 2013. The instructions for prior versions of Outlook are not applicable.

You can make use of this third party tool http://www.duplicateemailremover.net to remove all duplicate items in MS Outlook instantly. The tool is also supported by all versions of MS Outlook and compatible with all windows.

There is a free Remove Duplicate Messages tool that does exactly what you want. It is a third-party software, but it's free

If you want to remove the duplicate email messages from Outlook 2013 without using any third-party commercialware tool, then why don't you try an easy manual trick? I read this article last week on EzineArticles: How to Remove Duplicates in Outlook?

A manual trick is given in this article that will require no third-party tool. I hope this would be helpful.

Thanks.

That's superb dear....

I knew about this thing, but was forgotten. Thanks to remind me this in an indirect way.

Tony's Duplicate Email Remover add-in is free only if you have a trivial amount of duplicates or if you do not mind removing them manually. As of July 2015, the full version is $24 US. That being said, the program itself is excellent. It has some limitations - all the duplicates go to the same location - but, I used it to pull 5550 duplicates out of 145 folders with 27326 emails (~5GB) & had no issues other than it taking forever to process that absurdly large number of emails.
