Yes, it ia really a bad news to To-Do bar fans. In Outlook 2007/2010, it can shows multi-day agenda and see multiple navigation calendars. However, do this with a pinned peek in Outlook 2013, you'll only see just one day for meeting request/one month in calendar:(

I have submitted this behavior to Microsoft and it might be improved in fucture package.

Office 2013 more bugs, more errors, but for production commercial business use, Office 2010 has it beat in features and functionality.

I like to a three [3] month calender viewable as with previous version.

I understand from TECHNET/MSDN that for our safety and security, that via Visual Studio, one cannot hack the interface even!

Agree entirely. To remove such a useful feature that I have used and have come to rely on for many years is a massive step backwards and utterly stupid. Cut down on the caffeine guys when you develop these product and think about the end users. A bit of common sense should have told you this was not going to be a well received move!

Don't bother downloading this guys Todo Pane software. It's terrible. It's slow and buggy as hell. It has crashed my outlook 2 or 3 times in the first 10 minutes of trying to use it.

I use it for weeks and it's working very good now!

Seems like Microsoft has been hiring different developer teams from India for each of its release.

Windows and office software keeps taking weird turns. Why deprecate all those features that actually make the software of some use? Perplexing

Well I just took the plunge and installed Office 2013 this morning.  This issue with the Outlook To-Do Bar Calendar only showing items for the current day is appalling. There's too much wasted space here.Show me what I have next on the calendar! Why on earth would Microsoft remove this feature? Please do something about this Microsoft. It seems that I'm not the only one griping about this, and it has already been pointed out back in 2012.

As I always say, I don't want a solution, I want to meet and analyze the person making the decision to see what kind of human being this is and how their mind works. This isn't a Microsoft problem, it is one person who is responsible for this call, and I would like to speak to whoever this is!

I agree with the many people in this thread that this decision is VERY BAD JUDGEMENT and I will predict like an FBI profiler that the person who made the final decision to make this change is either a supervisor who wasn't aware it was being changed or a person between 27-32 years old who has not worked at any significant position in their life and doesn't understand that for many people who multi task lists of things to knock off daily, looking ahead weeks at a time that this TO DO bar was a major part of the calendar.

The only reason I use Outlook is the TO DO Bar. I stopped using iCloud with Outlook to preserve the TO DO bar because it pulls the tasks into a list I can see for weeks ahead as I knock off each one. Now I have to look at the calendar and readjust my brain (literally) because of some jack ass does like lists, although Apple went out of their way to create REMINDERS lists!

The only reason I use windows is the file layout and windows picture viewer, over Mac OS X. At least Apple learned that the TO DO bar is critical and created REMINDERS into MAC OS X and iOS, and Microsoft pulls it's full function from Outlook???? I guess I should switch to OS X fulltime to use REMINDERS lists.

Also, APPLE syncs one main calendar to all devices, and Outlook has a main calendar for TO DO that doesn't sync to the cloud, and a cloud calendar that doesn't sync with TO DO, and another calendar, and another calendar....what the hell is going on? Why could Jobs see the world clearly and others can't?

I'm pretty sure humanity will end within our lifetime! There are just too many people in the world today, each trying hard to hold on to work and a pay check trying to change things for the better and making it worse. It's only the young people who haven't lived long enough to know what it's really like that are easily brain washed by manipulators to become murderers in WWII and terrorists today in quest for some false dream.

It's not only this problem. Maybe even it is possible to live with it, but it appears that even the days with the appointments in that calendar is not marked anyhow. You should guess if there is any appointments on that day or not.

For example, you have set the reminder for meeting/seminar/whatever in the future and you forgot which day it should be. How to find it now? :) Now you should check all the f***ing empty days and search it till you find it.

This should be fixed as an urgent problem!

I agree this is a major flaw.  I'm looking at Office 2013 now to see if our department should make the switch or not.  Being able to look at the to do list and see things in advance helps me plan workload for coming days and as a support staff position helps me tell at a glance if a suggested time to help out and individual is open or not. 

I have users for whom this is a big no go item when reviewing the changes in Office 2013.

If you are running Outlook as part of Office 365 Home Premium (or another Office 365 iteration), then the hotfix indeed doesn't apply. If the update has already been made available to you, then you can update it via the Update button that you see in File-> Office Account.

The minimal Outlook version which offers support for this is 15.0.4551.1004 with MSO 15.0.4535.1507.

While I'm extremely pleased that this issue was finally addressed, I still find it rather limited that it will show dates up to seven days out. Why isn't there an option for users to select how many dates the to do bar will show? Or show as many as can fit like the older version used to have? I use Outlook at home and like being able to see more than a week out since I have plenty of white space that would love to have more upcoming events listed.

And please add the drag and drop an email to calendar set up back. I've been using that more and more at work and don't understand why this functionality was also removed.

Don't even get me started on not being able to see tasks on your calendar.  I'm so disappointed with Office 2013.  Everything from the above restrictions to the actual aesthetics of the program are a step backwards.  Luckily I only paid $10 for the HUP edition or I would be really ticked!

Do you want to see tasks on the calendar or are you saying Outlook 2013 changed the behavior of tasks? (It didn't.)

I remember reading prior to WP7 being released, a MS spokesperson promising to be different from the iPhone by way of the Calendar appointments, missed calls and messages being displayed without the need to actively check them - just like Windows Mobile 6.

Your frustration is shared, as this was the sole reason I bought a WP7. Am sorely disappointed as well as Office 2013 Calendar and colour scheme.

It is now more than a year since this first post. As I keep reading through this blog and all I keep seeing is "Microsoft," "they,"...etc....Can we list the name(s) of the person who is responsible for this product. At Apple we knew it was Steve Jobs who was the highest in command, it doesn't appear to be Ballmer or Gates here. Who is in charge of this product, so we can find out what kind of person this individual is?

Another example of private enterprise take the money from customers and "we make the decisions, if you don't like it go take a hike."

Oh yes, as the tea party wants to dismantle a government by the people by saying our forefathers never said a government by the people with checks and balances but rather wanted no goverment, and turn it into the mafia makes the rules for society, no law, we don't have to listen to anyone, we know best, put a gun to their heads to pay for protection, winner take all, the rest are weak losers and our slaves, anarchy:)

Upcoming Appointments

Initially, in Outlook 2013, when there are no appointments for the current day, the white space wont be filled with upcoming appointments like in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. It will simply state: You have nothing scheduled today.

This behavior has first been changed back in hotfix <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2825677" target="_blank" title="Description of the Outlook 2013 hotfix package (Outlook-x-none.msp; Outlookintl-.msp): October 16, 2013">KB2768340. Since then the fix is also included via the latest Outlook updates offered via Windows Update and applied automatically for Office 365 installations

When the latest updates have been applied, the Calendar section of the To-Do Bar will show appointments for up to 7 upcoming days (if space permits it) from the selected day onwards.

This also applies to the Calendar Peek which shows when you hover on the word Calendar at the bottom of your screen.

This is a giant step backwards, as I use this functionality a lot!

I bought Outlook 2014 along with a new notebook, only to find that it's functionality was less than version 2010 and earlier versions.

I believe I have bought an inferior product.

I am also disappointed.  Outlook 2013 is a set-backwards.  I did not read these before upgrading.  I hoped that the to-do list would access multiple calendars.

To fix this, I tried many things over the past few weeks.  Ultimately, I bought an additional monitor and placed it to the side of my main monitor.  I then selected open Calendar in a new window.  I put the calendar in my monitor off to the side.  I then selected "next 7 days", calendars overlay" and zoomed into the day to show only 7am-7pm (my possible range of appointments).  This seems to work.  The full month calendar on this mode makes days bold if they have an appointment with them.  I see all of the next 7 days.  As I get used to the extra screens, I think I might prefer this to other options.  I would have preferred a to-do list that could accomplish and agenda view in the margin of my screen while in outlook but this has some other advantages also....it is always up even when Outlook is not my top page.  The free agenda calendar on my android phone is still better to see upcoming appointments than my desktop, but at least it is now functional and I can stop double booking myself or missing appointments.
