I posted this in the early days of Office 2013 appearance but somehow its disappeared so I'm posting it again.

Calendar peek is an almost pointless waste of time compared to the To-Do bar in Outlook 2003-2010.  Colour coding tasks and having them display under the Calendar has helped me not lose sight of those "Never get Round To" tasks.  But the out and out winner in Outlook 2003-2010 is drag and drop mail to appointments.  When you open the appointment the contents of the mail is displayed.  Drag the mail to the day and all you have to do is put in the time and your done.

Its not there in Outlook 2013! What's that about?  Its like someone sat down from a competitor and said lets make Outlook unusable for everyone so that we can sell them our product!  The only thing worse I've seen is the removal of "Insert picture from scanner or Camera" from word 2007.  Seems like its been down hill since 2003.  Who's running this show?

As the previous thread mentioned, this is by design in Outlook 2013 so far.

Right Ive just figured it out and it worked for me.

I simply dragged the email to where its says Calendar on the new main row at the bottom. It then opens and appointment where you can change the date and time. The original feature allowed you to drag onto a specific date which was nice and quick, but hopefuly that method I found should also work for us!

Tony, thanks for the replies.  As for "By Design" its move like "By lack of Design".  If a well used feature is accidently removed then as long as it is restored or the reason for its removal explained, users will be ok with it, but not recognising a mistake and not correcting it is poor customer service. I'll have to resort to copy and paste at this rate. 

Were you able to make copy and paste work into a calendar item?

Once I open a calendar item, I find that the ability to paste text into the notes is not available.

Thank You MarkusMohauk.This way worked for me too but still missing the feature to drag onto a specific date.

As I manage several calendars, the easiest process for me is to drag the email message to my Desktop and then drag to the specific calendar (I am a delegate for 10 calendars) that I want to add it to. Once it opens as an appointment, I can change the date. The email is transferred to the calendar in it's entirety.  At this point, I can drag/drop to any number of calendars.
