Hi

Im using a private domain email with outlook (IMAP) i was using office 2010 until today and no issues at all. All my IMAP folders works great with filters.

Today i upgraded to Office 2013 and im have issues with IMAP folders. I know its widely known issue but so far i didnt find any solution. My IMAP folders are not showing. I unsubscribe and subscribe again at that time im getting this error : http://i.imgur.com/aTvewHr.jpg

Sync Issue folder shows this result :

I tried removing my account completely and added again. still not showing. would really appreciate if anyone can guide me to a solution

Please try to create a new profile and resync your IMAP mailbox to check the result. Thanks.

There is a general IMAP/Outlook2013 problem as Imany others and I experience it (Win8 x64/OL2013(32-bit) with my IMAP university provider). Other people in these "IT Pro general discussions" Forum are also mentioning this problem and it appears unrelated to the provider. 

Since the first cases have been described in October 2012, it seems to be a problem which bugs many people. People stating going back to Outlook 2010 because of the problems. If I disable my IMAP account, everything appears stable (I have exchange and POP accounts still installed).

yes, but unfortunately we cannot downgrade because our company bought 2013 for all our systems and we use imap as this is for a company.. i hope microsoft will release an update soon to fix this issue

Update :

Issue has been fixed, and i would like to share how i fixed this issue so that anyone else facing similar issue can overcome

1) Login to your webmail

2) Move all your mails from subfolders to your main inbox

3) Delete the subfolder from WebMail

4) Create new subfolders from Webmail

5) Now create a new IMAP account with Outlook 2013

Weirdest part is I really dont understand how come outlook 2013 accepts newly created imap folders, but fails to subscribe to old subfolders

Seriously? THIS is the "fix"? Do you have any idea how many emails and folders I have?

Totally unacceptable. The user should not have to go through these hoops when *upgrading* to Outlook 2013.

Proposing this as the answer completely misses the point. it worked before and it should work now. My webmail works fine and is fine and as far as I'm concerned I shouldn't have to spend time fiddling about with it just to make this product work when the old one did work. MS (and to be fair they are not the only ones) are making too many changes which I believe are diven my "marketing" decisions, changes the reasons for which they are not upfront about - their motive is to force you to open an account, become more dependent on them etc.

This is an area that needs regulation, the early days of nerdy entrepreneurs gleefully providing users with, more or less, open functionality are gone, now we are in an era of considered corporate covetousness, they all want to do it all. It is tiresome, they need regulating.

Hi.. I have been struggling with this issue for a few hours today, and after reinstalling outlook, deleting and recreating email accounts several times...  I think I have just found a solution.

The issues I experienced were:

1. Inbox would not sync (sub folder would sync ok however)

2. Couldnt delete emails.. either I get a permissions warning or "object deleted" message.

All I did to fix the issue was to go into the IMAP folders option (right click your IMAP inbox from within outlook), and unsubscribe to all folders (inlcuding inbox and all sub folders), refresh the main mail pane, and then go back into IMAP folders and subscribe to all my folders again.

So far, this seems to have done the trick...

I sloved this issue, by doing the following: 

1. Exit Outlook

2. Locate your .ost folder: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\

3. Delete your IMAP accounts .ost file. 

4. Start outlook

5. Right click your account and selecte IMAP Folders, and query all folder; Select first folder, and scroll to the bottom, shift+click the bottom folder so you select all folders. Select "unsubscribe". 

6. Query again, same procedure, now "Subscribe" to the folder. 

7. Exit IMAP folder, select "Update folderlist". 

Emails should now be listed again as normal. 

I have just tried this. It appears that it may have worked though I'm too tired now to check in detail. However I'm skeptical. I'll check again tomorrow. From the many other posts on this and similar problems with outlook 2013 imap and non ms related (particularly gmail) accounts I'd like to see it keep working for a while before supporting the above as an answer.

This is not a fix. It is a workaround. And it doesn't work if IMAP folder structure is write protected - as it is in our case.

Currently you can't have full functionality with imap in Outlook 2013.

To follow up on my last post. The fix didn't work and the bad behavior returned. On my machine at home I have reverted to Outlook 2010 which works fine (this in on a W7 64 bit machine). That said Outlook 2013 seems to work OK with IMAP on my wifes W8 notebook/tablet.

I wanted to reply to this in hopes that it will help someone out.  I had the exact same issue with a user on Outlook 2013 and it had to do with the folder subscriptions.  When I looked at the folder subscriptions, there were a bunch of folders setup that no longer existed.  Once I unsubscribed those folders, the sync errors went away.
