Outlook 2013 crashes intermittently when printing

Server 2008 R2 terminal server enviornment.

Only one printer seems to be effected, a Richo Afico MP 2510.   Odd thing is we have several of these throughout our company and only one causes issues.   They are all the same model and we use the same drivers for all of them.

I have tried

  • Deleting and recreating printer
  • PCL6 / PCL5e / PCL 6 Universal drivers
  • Every printer setting under the sun
  • Deleting users OutPrnt file
  • Recreating Outlook profile

Another odd thing I've noticed is that when I change the print driver it will work for a few days with no issue, but the problem always comes back.

When Outlook crashes an event is logged:

Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 15.0.4535.1006, time stamp: 0x5232c18a

Not really sure if this an Outlook issue or a printer issue but I'm leaning towards Outlook as we never had a problem before upgrading to Office 2013 (we used 2003 before that)

Forgot to mention:

This doesn't happen on some servers.  I worked on a Server 2008 R2 server and on  Windows 8 laptop and neither have a problem with the printer.

Hi,

Have you tried running Outlook in Safe Mode?

Press Win + R and type outlook.exe /safe in the blank box, then press Enter.
If theres no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.

We may also try a clean boot to determine if background programs are interfering with Outlook:

Have you tried Clean boot? What's the result?

Also try repairing Office in Control Panel.

This is quite interesting, you mentioned Ricoh... I'm having the same problem only with a RICOH Aficio MP 4000, i'm currently using the latest PCL 6 driver and have tried previous drivers and a lot of tweaking but still problem seems to persist, we have recently upgraded our XP Office 2007 machines to Win 7 office 2013, it never seemed to be a problem with our old systems. I would be more inclined to say this is an Office 2013 issue rather than a printer issue, I wonder how many others out there are experiencing the same problem?

I still haven't found an solution to this issue.   Ricoh is no help, they just keep saying it must be an issue with Outlook, but I haven't been able to find any other cases where people have had this issue.  In fact you are the first person.

Having the same issue, but with Windows 8, same error as you guys are getting.

Just starting to look for a solution, please let me know if you have found a solution.

Forgot to add, we are using a Konica Minolta C552

Having same issue with Samsung Multi Function Black and White Laser printer.  The quick print for embedded emails has worked.  Printing attachments appears to work.  I don't know if this model is a PCL6 printer but will call Samsung to find out.  If anyone comes up with a permanent solution, I'm all ears (well and eyes so I can read your post ;)

I have the same problems with an ricoh aficio mp 2550B.

Outlook keeps crashing with the ricoh drivers. If i use the windows driver for printing it works just fine.

On an other idantical pc the driver is just fine. Both pcs has been reinstalled from scratch (with windows 7 pro) a few days ago and have the same 32bit office 2013 Version.

Strange things happening in MS office 2013 ....
