While I appreciate the reply, offline folders have nothing to do with my question.  First, I would have thought that the Office 365/Office Application would be the appropriate forum for an Outlook 365/Outlook 2016 question.  Very simply, my question is whether MS has fixed the issue regarding the ability to synchronize "categories" across computers on the same e-mail account.  It used to be possible with a MAPI configured account using Outlook Connector but this capability was lost with EAS.  I'm wondering whether the MAPI-HTTP protocol will support category synchronization? using Office 365/Outlook 2016?  Is or will the MAPI-HTTP protocol be available for configuring an e-mail account in Office 365/Outlook 2016?

Outlook 2016 for Mac or for Windows? AFAIK, EAS doesn't support categories syncing.

A little confused about the EAS and MAPI-HTTP, they are two different protocols , I think the categories syncing is supported by MAPI-HTTP.

Thanks for the reply.  It sounded as if the MAPI-HTTP protocol would/should support category synchronization.  However, I can't seem to find out anything about getting access or utilizing the protocol.  I have Outlook 2016 running under Windows 10 and it appears to only permit account set-ups under EAS.  Sorry, don't know AFAIK.

Hi John,

That depends on the email account you are using. If it's an Exchange account, it will be added into Outlook 2016 using auto account setup. Manually setup for an Exchange account is not supported any more in Outlook 2016. If your Exchange Server has MAPI over HTTP enabled, your Exchange account will be set up using MAPI over HTTP.

Exchange ActiveSync is only for Outlook.com (or Hotmail.com) accounts, it's not the same thing with Exchange. If you are using an Outlook.com account, you can configure it as EAS in Outlook 2016.
