Outlook Anywhere settings and slow connection back to Exchange 2003 OWA

I have several windows 7 and 8 laptops configured with Outlook 2007 or 2010, users have Outlook Anywhere settings for SSL back to our exchange 2003 OWA site. When accessing outside Wi-Fi networks away from the organization I see that the laptops are experiencing a slow connection issue back to the network and every so often timing out not able to connect to the server. This is happening when connecting to almost every Wi-Fi network so I know it cant be the Wi-Fi service that is the issue.  When you connect the laptop at the office Outlook opens without any problems and syncs fine. Im beginning to think this could be an outside connection issue with our firewall. Laptops were working fine a few weeks back without any problems.

All smartphones and tablet devices are working fine when using OWA settings from outside Wi-Fi networks so email is flowing and working but outlook on the laptops is not when using OWA settings

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Will,

You are right... On laptop, we use to configure RPC over HTTPS profiles which connects to our ISP then ISP will search our domain then it will search our Exchange, hence it works slow. If you go far away from your WIFI device then there would be issue with internet range. But If you are in office then our mailboxes directly to the mailbox server via local LAN.

If you are having around 1mb of speed in WIFI then it should give you any problems.

I suggest for DATA Card for laptops users, it will give you much more good performance then WIFI.
