Outlook Contacts Advanced Find
Hey guys, trying to do a search of the "Department" field for the contacts in my GAL in Outlook 2010. Noticed however that I'm only able to search on the first word contained in the Department field for any particular user. If the department field contains more than one word, I'm not able to search on it. For example, the attached screenshot shows a user whose Department is "Investor Services". If I search "Investor" in Outlook Contacts using Advanced Find, this user shows in the results. However if I search for "Services", I get no results. Exchange server is 2007. Also getting the same results with a subsidiary company of ours who just moved to Office 365 (searching on the Department field only works for the first word in the field). Any suggestions? Shaun

Hi I do the same test on my local client. Win 7 Outlook 2010 I create user Department Inverstor Services If I click address book and find “Services” No result. If I add it in to contacts and click contacts ->filter ->advance ->field ->all contacts filed->department -> “services” It works. So it seems to be design issue not search issue. You can open thread to outlook forum. Maybe they will know detail of outlook. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/outlook/threads

Thanks, but I would like to be able to search the Global Address Book without having to download the contents to my local contacts. Seems like you should be able to search on the entire contents of any field, not just the first word. I'll try posting in Outlook forums.Shaun
