Outlook Error 80072f7d
Trying to sync Windows Phone 7 with Exchange Server 2003 sp2 for mail, contacts and calendar and getting the following error message Attention Required Outlook Error Not Updated We're having a problem syncing your information. Try again later Error Code 80072f7d I have successfully installed certificates. Tried both .cer and 64 bit certs - Then Soft Reboots Gone into Settings and added the correct account information in Add Outlook and also tried Add advanced sections. I have deleted and repeated this numerous times. I know its the correct information because, I entered the information into an iphone, a droid, and an old ipod touch, all worked with out a problem or a hiccup. Just can't get the Windows Phone 7 to sync up. It really shouldn't be this hard. Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

No Sorry Ed this did not help. I did go to the AT&T store and they told me I needed to purchase the "Exchange" data pack from them an extra $5 bucks a month. What I didn't understand was why exchange works on my wifes iphone and we both have the "residential" data pack. Hmmm. Well when he switched it to the new plan there was no change. I will be calling the ATT customer service tomorrow to see if they can help.

Do you need both the CA's root an intermediate certificate installed on the phone? Does the root/intermediate certificate you're loadin onto the phone correct (e.g. the phone may have the old 1024-bit cert from the CA and the on used for SSL may be using a 2048-bit certificate) Some carriers don't allow you to load certificates unless they're signed by the carrier. Can you launch a browser on the phone and connect to OWA? Do you get any certificate warnings? --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Spent some time this morning with a nice customer service lady at ATT. We had to change to an "Smart Phone SEnterprise Data Plan" After resetting everything still getting the same "Active Sync Error", 80072F7D. She worked with her Tier 2 representative. the determination is that it is a Microsoft or Hardware Manufacturer issue and ATT could not help. Best I can tell from the conversation is that ATT has yet to be successful at setting up a Windows 7 Phone on an Exhange server. I guess I am going back to the store to get an IPhone Uggg. Will let you know how that exchange works out...

After discussions with the ATT Technical Representatives; I exchanged my Windows Phone 7 for an IPhone. It is my understanding that ATT has not been able to successfully set up a corporate exchange with a windows phone. My problem is solved. I really did not want this to be the resolution but I can't keep going on without the exchange working.

I was frustrated when I tried to sync with our self-signed Exchange 2010. I imported the .cer cert, rebooted, but it still shows 80072F7D. I then read it somewhere saying that in order to sync with Exchange 07/10, a .p7b cert would be required in lieu of the .cer cert. So I imported the .p7b cert and now it works =) Still can't figure out why WP7 requires the .p7b cert. .cer cert works well on Windows, WM6 and even Linux. But now it's one less reason to stick with my WM6 (if only MSFT support internet tethering and text sync with Exchange on WP7...) Good luck.
