Outlook Out Of Office Issues - Out Of Office assistant error with "Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is currently unavailable. Try again Later"
Nothing in your error messages is unique. Did you setup the server using the wizards in SBS? If not, why not? Any reason you aren't using remote.example.com for the URL? That is what SBS 2008 really wants you to use. I would suggest that you start by running the fix my network wizard from the SBS management console. Ensure that the external name posted above resolves internally to the SBS server. When you recreated the AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory did you do so on to the SBS Web Applications web site? Hi all, I have looked at some similar issues on the forums but i think that maybe the one i have is unique (and would be happy to be proven wrong to be honest). At line:1 char:24 + Test-OutlookWebServices <<<< | fl Further to the log file above, when i browse to the URL: https://localhost/EWS/Exchange.asmx or https://mail.companyname.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx i get a "done" in the bottom of the screen, and no content. I believe the "exchange.asmx" is supposed to redirect to "service.asmx" or something along those lines? The process to recreate "New-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -WebsiteName " has been followed (after a deletion). It is a 2008 SBS with exchange 2007 running SP3 flat on it. HELP :) Jason

Hi Simon, Thanks for your response. Our standards within the company is to configure our deployed SBS machines with the address as mail. and not remote. I can ping both internally and externally with the correct response mail.companyname.com To be honest, i didnt recreate the autodiscover web site, but i have been given the commands which were used to do so: Re-create IIS Autodiscover website: %windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe add backup ”IISBackup_Before_Autodiscover_Changes” Remove-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory –Identity “SERVERNAME\Autodiscover (SBS Web Applications)” New-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -WebsiteName “SBS Web Applications” -WindowsAuthentication $true -BasicAuthentication $true iisreset We can change the Out of Office from OWA but not from Outlook 2007 (i dont htink they have any 2010 at the moment). I can only go by how SBS is designed to work. While your own standards might be one thing, I have learned from experience that going against anything that SBS wants to do is usually a cause for more work than is really necessary and is usually only done for one reason - to ensure that the end user needs to call on their consultancy for any changes, because the wizards don't work (not that I am saying that is why you have gone against the recommendations). OWA uses a different mechanism to change OOTO, so will usually work when the autodiscover virtual directory does not. The advice I have give above still stands - run the fix my network wizard to begin with. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Hello, Does the OOF work via OWA? If OWA works, the issue may be related to the autodiscover and availability service. Check the status by: a. While Outlook is running, click the CTRL key and then right-click the Outlook icon in the system tray and then select “Test Email Autoconfiguration”. b. Confirm that your email address is in the address field, uncheck “Use Guessmart” and “secure Guessmart authentication” boxes. Then click the “Test” button. c. Once it runs, please check the Log tab and Results tab. Thanks, Simon Wu Exchange Forum Support Please remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help.
