Outlook Performance Problems
Trying to nail down some outlook performance issues after moving the company to Exchange 2010 SP1.
Some, not all users are getting periodically disconnected from exchange (chached mode) when on the LAN. But do not experience the problem when using outlook outside of the office
via outlook anwhere.
External route to exchange server is direct from internet, firewall, switch, exchange. Internal Route is switch, exchange - same switch.
I have done extensive network testing to see if there where any physical issues on LAN, cabling, switch.
Also Outlook users sporadically get a message that the intended recipient is no longer found. Little message above To. They can send to recipient without issue, but curious as to why this message keeps appearing.

It's going to be hard to diagnose that kind of problem with the scant information you have. Outlook Anywhere is much more tolerant of connectivity issues, so it might be that Internet users are being shielded from seeing the problems. I'd start

Hi SJMP,
Do you run Outlook 2010?
Please check whether there is any error event in the Event Viewer. And EXBPA is worth trying.
Please check "Connection Status" (click Outlook icon with Ctrl) when the status is disconnected.

Hi,
On the server with the Client Access Role
Install Exchange 2010 Update Rollup 1 and restart the server. Now make the following registry change. HKLM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeRPC\ParametersSystem Create a DWORD called ”Maximum Polling Frequency” (without quotes)
Make the value 10000
Note that this change is dynamic and clients will need to close and open Outlook again for the change to take affect.

Can I update to rollup 2? Will this also address the issue or will I have to install update 1 separately?

Hi,
The Rollup 1 in the KB is for Exchange 2010 RTM, please don't install it. And seems like the question is not the same symptoms.
SJMP, you can update to Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup 2, also this is the best practice.

Thanks Frank - Thats what I did - Rollup 2. Still having the same problems. Not sure what to do from here. Outlook 2003 really does not work properly with exchange 2010.

Could you please check whether all Outlook 2003 users have the issue? How about Outlook 2007 and 2010 users?
