Outlook QuickParts migration after updating an existing quickpart
I have been using QuickParts since they appeared in Outlook and making changes and migrating the NormalEmail.dotm file from one computer to another was simply a copy/paste operation. But since upgrading to Outlook 2013 this operation has become very difficult.
The changes I make to the QuickPart on my primary computer can be viewed correctly. However when the NormalEmail.dotm file is copied to a flash drive and then to another computer, the QuickPart changes that I made appear not to have been applied to the
template. I suspected that the QuickParts template may have a cache, so I tried re-starting Outlook on my primary computer before copying the file, then rebooting the whole machine, also deleting the old NormalEmail.dotm file on the receiving machine, all
to no avail. I have also tried giving the updated QuickPart a different name and deleting the old QuickPart, but lo and behold the original QuickParts are still on the NormalEmail.dotm file that is in 'templates'. The strange thing is that sometimes the changes
do appear, but I have not yet identified what the logical sequence should be to do this every time. Can anyone help? cliff@clifff
