I installed the 32bit social connector on my 32bit Office 2010, on my Win 7 64bit ultimate system. When I trie to start Outlok it crashed with no message, other than a message box that says Outlook has stopped working, and windows will try to find a resolution. So I removed the social connector and still Outlook gives me the same message. I used scanpst on my pst files. Same message on trying to start. The only way I can start Outlook is by holding down the control key to start in Safe mode. Any help on getting back up and working would be appreciated.

I have exactly same combination: 32bit Social Connector, on 32 bit Office 2010, on Win 7 64 bit Ultimate. For me starting Outlook with /noextensions switch enabled it to start, then I went to COM Addins dialog and disabled Social Connector Addin. Outlook now works fine again - but would like to get Social Connector working to try it out. Anyone from MSFT here care to comment on these crashes?

I had exactly the same experience but found that deleting and recreating my mail profile fixed the crashing on start up but left the new Social Connector running.
Now I can't seem to get the LinkedIn connector to show up in the People Pane Account Settings dialog.
I've reinstalled both the Social Connector and the LinkedIn add-in but it still doesn't show in Account Settings dialog.

I got the same issue with the 32-Bit Social Connector with Outlook 2010 32-bit, but with Windows XP 32-bit.

The crashing is covered in the release notes at the bottom of the download page if you scroll down past the original download link - you need to uninstall the OSC that's shipped with the 2010 beta FIRST before installing the new version. Installing the new version over the top of the old release will crash Outlook on startup.
Uninstalling OSC from the Office 2010 installer (click Change in Uninstall) should fix things prior to a fresh install of OSC.

Thank you Simon for the advice! I´ve uninstalled OSC from the Office 2010 installer and then proceded to install the new version. This fixed it for me. What I can´t seem to get working is LinkedIn integration. I installed the add-in and completed my signin info but I am not getting any updates from LinkedIn.
Any ideas?

After removing the OSC from Office 2010 and reinstalling the new version, I was able to setup my account with Linkedin. But I only see the information displayed in my Linkedin Conatacts folder. I do not see any information displayed in the People Pane. I only see the blank picture holder with the users Names but no other options. Any thoughts?

The outlook connector is not for outlook 2010 - the linkedin connector is for outlook 2010 (and 2003/2007 with the new connector installed).

Try rebuilding your index.
File | Options | Search | Indexing Options | Advanced | Rebuild

It can take a while for LinkedIn data to sync with Outlook.

The Outlook connector is for Outlook 2003 -> 2010 Beta. The download page has been updated with instructions for 2010.
Correct. Plus, anyone using a build newer than the beta also doesn't need it.

Try creating a new Mail Profile in Control Panel | Mail.

Did you originally install the new connector over the old one?
How many social connector keys are at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook ?
(you can delete them and reinstalling the connector to regenerate the keys)
Also note that if you try a new profile, they say the connector only works with one profile - you need to edit the registry to show it in another
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\ and select the profile key you want to use the social connector with. Locate ddb0922fc50b8d42be5a821ede840761 Value: 000b0400 - change it to Data: 00 10
