Outlook connected directly to serverfqdn?
Hi,
greenfieldenvironment, collocated cas/mailbox servers and outlook 2010.
if looking at outlook connection status the proxy server says mail.comapny.com
if running a netstat on the client machine it says that its connected to exsrv01.company.com where the active database is. ??? should all connections go via the proxy mail.company.com?
HLB is configured next week so for now I have set DNS RR on these servers. (Have also tried to only have every pointed towards the first CAS/MBX server hosting the active database copy with the test accounts)
We have a wildcard certificate, (msstd:*.company.com). and its assigned to IIS service and its working with OA and OWA!
Configuration:

1) InternalNLBBypassUrl was empty after the installation, but when I resetted the vDir it added the serverfqdn? Shall this be fqdn or the HLB namespace mail.company.com?
2) When running Test-OutlookWebServices i get an autodiscover: outlook provider failure.
autodiscover works perfect for outlook 2010 clients that are domain joined!, if runnig the -debug paramater I can't see any error?
Seems I have missed something or that things are not working correctly now without HLB...
Since the CASArray is deprecated, Im just curious why it doesnt display the proxyadress, but instead the servername if using netstat

Hi,
This isn't the result I asked for, anyway it does have lots of information
1) InternalNLBBypassUrl was empty after the installation, but when I resetted the vDir it added the serverfqdn? Shall this be fqdn or the HLB namespace mail.company.com?
mail.domain.com namespace is normally for OWA not for CAS Array. CAS Array Namespace should be something like outlook.domain.com
Press and hold the Ctrl Key and right click on Outlook Icon in the system tray and click on Test E-mail AutoConfiguration .
Post that result
And did you ran this command after changing to/the CAS Array?
Set-MailboxDatabase Database Name -RpcClientAccessServer Your Friendly Cas Array Name
I am assuming that you are running exchange server 2010.Gulab Prasad,

Hi again guys, this is the Exchange 2013 forums so I'm running Exchange 2013. :)
In Exchange 2007, the clients talked directly to the Mailboxservers, not in Exchange 2013.
gulab:
That is what I did, that is the XML tab of the result.
And I cannot alter the RPCClientAccessServer parameter since its dynamic pointing towards the server holding the active database of the mailbox. This had to be changed manually in Exchange 2010 if the databases where created before the DAG.

Just looked at it again.
if manually configuring outlook and entering mail.company.com in the serverfield it cannot lookup and translate into the guid, but if specifying the server fqdn of any of the collocated cas/mailboxservers it can resolve the guid and I can connect. wierd
right since mail.company.com points towards the cas/mbx servers (dns rr)
If looking in the connectionstatus I can see that its using the proxy mail.company.com but if running a netstat I can see that the servernames are there...not the proxyname.
