I am tryng to setup Outlook to connect to the sbs2008 exchange server. Using Rpc over http. Get the following message "the connection to the microsoft exchange server is unavailable outlook must be online online to complete this action"I have tried with both 2003 and 2007. Same message.I've tried adding and removing the rpc key microsoft suggests, no luck. Tried the ntlm and basic authintication, no luck.Please Help

Press ctrl+right click on Outlook icon on system tray.If these two tests are fine, then configurations are OK. Do you have a valid SSL installed on the server?? This is a requirement for the RPC over https to work..Raj

Hi Raj,I have the certificate that was installed when i ran the setup it is not a trusted certificate but one i added when i ran add a trusted certificate Task in the initial setup. it is issued to remote.company.com issued by sbsserver-company-ca

The certificate that you installed during setup was the default self-signed certificate, it is will not work with Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003 clients that are using Outlook Anywhere. If the problem is with this certificate, the computer is not joined to the SBS domain. Ok I broke down and purchases a ssl from godaddy, a multi domain one. Do i use the wizard in the sbs console, and will this work for the exchange server and RWW site? The way i read it, you only have one shot at making the cert if i screw up the cert will need to be re purchased.Please if someone could give me specific instructions for my sbs2008 it would be great!Bye the way this is for the external use of outlook express and mobile devicesThanks

Hi have u generate the certificate wizards in sbs2008. if you did then you have default certificate which is remote.test.com you must have static ipaddress as well. you need to test with owa first make that address trusted website, go back again same website and install certificate in trusted root certificate once you installed the certificate check your email first using owa then use rpc over proxy. that should work perfect.
