Outlook slow when doing actions in additional mailboxes
Hi, My client's setup of Exchange 2007 (as part of SBS 2008), accessed with Outlook 2003 & 2007, had been working fine for months. Then, about a month ago, users started to complain that when they opened or closed emails in additional mailboxes, or moved emails between folders in the additional mailbox, that it could take 1-2 MINUTES for these operations to complete. Yet if they open or close emails in their own mailbox, or move emails within their own mailbox, it happens immediately. This is affecting users irrespective of whether they are using Outlook 2003 or 2007. I checked on the server to see if any Microsoft updates had been installed between 15-20 July 2010 (when the problem was first noted) and there weren't any. I tried turning off all the components of Trend Worry-Free Business Security, and disabling Trend on the client PCs, but still no difference. Any advice of where to look next? Thanks, Barry

If you suspect AV, then turning it off isn't enough. It has to be removed and then the server rebooted due to the way it integrates with Exchange. I'd check to see whether this is true for all secondary mailboxes, regardless of size/number of items. Cached mode speeds things up significantly, so the performance on the primary mailbox isn't going to be a good indicator. Remember that you can't cache someone else's mailbox, only the primary one in the profile.Lanwench [MVP - Exchange] ** Do not fold, spindle or mutilate. Hi, First, I would like to confirm the following questions: 1. What do you mean about the additional Mailboxes? Is the additional Mailbox in Exchange server, an Outside mailbox or an internal Mailbox which belongs to other Exchange user? 2. Does the symptom occur on certain Mailbox user or each user? 3. How many Outlook profile exists in Office Outlook? To troubleshoot the issue, please perform the following steps. 1. Assure the Outlook is running in Cache mode. 2. Create a new local PST file and move the folders from the additional Mailbox, and then move it to the local Mailbox to check the result. Is the performance quicker? 3.
