Outlook sync issue.
Hi All,
Outlook is getting these 2 errors within every 10 minutes.
1.Microsoft Exchange offline address book
Not downloading Offline address book
files. A server (URL) could not be located.
0X80004005
2.Microsoft Exchange offline address book
Not downloading Offline address book files.
A server (URL) could not be located.
0X8004010F
when i run a Test Outlook Configuration it goes as below:
Autodiscover to webmail.external domain name/autodiscover failed (0X80004005), then
the FQDN of the internal domain/autodiscover failed (0X80004005),
then autodiscover.internal domainame/autodiscover failed (0X80004005),
Local autodiscover for internal domainname failed (0X8004010F)
This server has transitioned recently from a exchange 2003 to this exchange 2007. They are using a internal CA certificate which has SANs specified. I added 2 host records for autodiscover in both the internal and external DNS zones but that did not
solve.
In the event viewer of the Exchnage i found these messages:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: OAL Generator
Event ID: 9320
Date: 3/3/2008
Time: 5:07:47 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER1
Description:
OALGen could not generate full details for some entries in the offline
address list for address list '\Global Address List'. To see which
entries are affected, event logging for the offline address list
generator must be set to at least medium.
- Default Offline Address List
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: OAL Generator
Event ID: 9360
Date: 3/3/2008
Time: 5:06:22 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVER1
Description:
OALGen encountered an error while generating the changes.oab file for
version 2 and 3 differential downloads of address list '\Global
Address List'. The offline address list has not been updated so
clients will not be able to download the current set of changes.
Check other logged events to find the cause of this error.
If the cause of the problem was intentional or cannot be resolved,
OALGen can be forced to post a full offline address list by creating
the DWORD registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
\Services\MSExchangeSA\Parameters\OAL post full if diff fails' and
setting it to 1 on this server. When OALGen next generates the
offline address list, clients will perform a full OAB download. After
that time, the registry key should be removed to prevent further full
downloads.
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeSA
Event Category: OAL Generator
Event ID: 9340
Date: 3/3/2008
Time: 5:06:22 AM
User: N/A
Computer: Server1
Description:
A new parent Legacy Exchange DN container value '/o=Company Name,
Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIxxxxxxx)/cn=Recipients' was found
during generation of the differential update file for offline address
list '\Global Address List'. This will force clients using this
offline address list to do a full download of the offline address
list.
Do i have to add the registry value which is mentioned in the event id 9360.
Also when i ran Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirector the Internal Url part is blank.

Run your test at www.testexchangeconnectivity.com for autodiscover and post the results. Also check the NTFS permissions your autodiscover.xml files on your CAS and make sure authenticated users have
read & execute, list folder contents, read.

Where is your OAB Generation pointed ?
Where is your current OAB?
Which version of outlook you are using ?
IN Exchange OAB folder required permission are set ?
Do you have made the SRV record in DNS for your AutoDiscover?
You are not able to connect internally and externally both ?

Yes, you need to add that registry entry.
Are the OAB URL errors happening for internal users as well?
For the URL errors, please post the output of Get-OabVirtualDirectory -Server <CAS Server> | Fl
What you need to check specifically is the what is set for URLs, what is set for RequireSSL and compare that with what Outlook thinks its connecting to when test Email AutoConfiguration. ALso ensure your the AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri is set correctly
using Set-ClientAccessServer and that the internal and externalURLs are valid when checked with
Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory
