Outlook takes time to open after enabling Exchange Proxy setting - RPC over HTTP
I need help if someone can spare some time and give me the solution please. Here is the detail as how my network is setup. I have two different setup configured in the same manner and having same problem. Only difference in the setup is one server using exchange server 2003 and other using 2007. I have configured Windows server 2003with exchange server in the organization. My domain is called 'mydomain.local' which is my internal domian configured asActive Directory, DNS and DHCP server for the internal organization. Since it is our internal serverit is notpublished on the internet. I have ISA Server 2006 on another computerwhich is being used as firewall, proxy and web caching mode. We have broadband internet connection and static IP provided by our service provider. Our external domain is 'mydomain.com'. All our emailscominfirst to our ISP then we are using third party POP3 downloader to download the email in exchange server. We have published OWA usingISA publishing wizard. To access OWA we type https://ISPstaticIP/OWAThen we decidedto use name instead of IP becuase it becmes difficult for the user to rememebr the IP. Since our internal server is not published on the internet we requested the service provider to create subdomain asowa.mydomain.com and assign our static IP to this name. Now we can access OWA using https://owa.mydomain.com/owa. We have configured Push email and its working fine, eamils are coming on Windows Mobile phone. Then we configured RPC over HTTP. we are using Proxy exchange as owa.mydomain.com/owa. When I put this setting in my outlook it takes lot of time for outlook to open. If the user is accessing outlook remotely it becomes difficult for him to use it. Most of teh time utlook hangs or you have to wait for almost 5 mints for it to open. As fa as my understandin is there when a user opens Outlook it look for owa.mydomain.com/owa. Which is pointed to my service providers IP. This IP has been assigned to mu ISA server and then ISA server points it to my exchange server tahts the reason it takes tim to open Outlook. Is there I am using any thign wrong in the setup. Can anyone help me to rectifiy this situation. Please help Regards, Nzm
