Outlook user unable to send/receive when Full Access Permissions granted to a few mailboxes
Exchange 2010 Outlook 2010 Server 2008 Envirionment Windows 7 Pro User has 7 full access permissions granted, but once they are there and connected, she has to hit send/receive to get all new mail messages. After profile recreation, she was unable to receive mail at all. Even when you press Send/Rec This is annoying and I need help to determine how to fix it. Let me know if you need any other information. Thank you, Andrew Bradburn

Because shared mailboxes are cached, disable it and test again. By default, shared mail folders are downloaded in Cached mode in Outlook 2010 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982697James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Okay, the registry key entry works for its function. However, the user still MUST hit "update folder" to recieve new emails. Push is broken it seems, and its very annoying that she has to click on something to update her inbox. Any more suggestions?

Also, there is a slight chance that that registry entry did not work. I created the key under hklm but there was no 14.0 folder that is specified, just an Outlook folder under microsoft I added the dword value, but as I stated above, the boxes are showing Connected instead of Online.

That's fine, if you go to the properties of the Inbox, you shouldn;t see a Sync tab there.Sukh

Okay... Thats fine, but the fact is that she cannot recieve new emails only and only when there is another mailbox attached....

Yes. She is running the most current verison and updates. We have about 70 users, and alot of them have full access permissions and they are not experiencing this issue. Exchange i belive is fully up to date too. is there a log file or some diagnostic tool we can use to determine why the Outlook client does not want to automatically check mail?

Just a FYI check Exch though it doesn't seem to be the issue here. I assume the new email which isn't being received is for the shared mbx and not the user. Even so, it seems to be an OLK type issue, and for in depth OLK logging and review I would be inclined to post in the OLK forum. As you implemented the above the key, did you rebuild the OST since, if you have then I would consider the OLK forum as mentioned, other than a few things that you can try is safe mode, a new windows and OLK profile (again), different PC altogether. If in OWA the emails are received then the mbx has received the mail which seems to be the case here. You can try and up the logging in OLK to see if this helps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300479 Sukh

I know it is not exchange. In the application log, there is nothing there regarding a sync issue for Outlook The emails not being recieved are the USER not the shared mailbox. I recreated the profile yesterday... I am wary about doing that again since the mailbox is over 13GB in size.

As you implemented the above the key, did you rebuild the OST since? It would be reduced since the regkey implementation. I assume you have tested in online mode or that's not an option?Sukh

I will recreate the profile again and see if that helps, with the key now entered. I will also try to take off Cached mode and see if that does anything Thank you for spending the time to assist me. I will get back to you.
