Hi ChristopherClay,
Thank you for posting this issue on the TechNet community forums.
From the description I understand that you've recently changed your mail account from POP to IMAP and have noticed that your sent items are still not syncing to the server. Is this correct?
This link may be able to help you: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/486
Hi,
By "My sent files are not being retained", do you mean the sent items are not been saved to the Sent Items folder or the old sent emails were not been downloaded to Outlook?
If it's the former, please go to Account Settings and make sure the "Do not save copies of sent items" is not selected. To verify this, click File > Account Settings > Account Settings, double-click your IMAP account, click More Settings > Advanced tab, check if the "Do not save copies of sent items" option is enabled.
If it's the later, I'd like to know what version of Outlook you are using. If you are using Outlook 2013, you'll need to contact your mail provider to if your IMAP server supports XLIST. This is because Outlook 2013 gets the Sent Items folder from the server using the XLIST command. If the IMAP server does not support XLIST, it falls back to the local Sent Items folder.
If I have misunderstood something, please feel free to let me know.

Steve Fan
