PF migration 2007 to 2013

I have followed http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx in migrating our modest PF on Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 (we are sitting on a co-existence at the moment).

After step 7 and on Step 8, when I set myown account as test and opened Outlook, I was greeted with the below message when I tried to open our PF from Outlook 2010 (KB2596517 is already updated and this was working from Mailbox 2013 and opening the PF on 2007 fine )

"The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed."

I ignored the error (alas!) and completed Step 8 only to realise the error persisted. After which I had to follow the steps for roll back but the error persisted. I had to dismount the PF on 2007 and re-mount it to bring it back online.

Anyone else having similar issues and any advise?

Many thanks,

Could you check whether you have the following update:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2817371/en-us

I think it is part of SP2 for Office 2010. BTW, there is such an update for Office 2007, 2010 and 2013.

Hi,

The article that you followed, refers to  Exchange 2007 SP3 RU10 server as the legacy Exchange server.

Please check the Exchange 2007 server's version first.

And also notice that we need downtime when performing Step 6, Step 7.

Does the issue occur in OWA (Exchange 2013)?

Thanks

@Mavis_Huang : I am already on co-existance (2007-2013) and hence RU10 SP3 is in place before we went ahead. We only have a calendar booking using PF so really don't have much to cause a long downtime (approximate 30 minutes) on Step 6. I haven't checked it via OWA (I don't know if we can test the Public Folders from OWA 2013, but will try next time I try)

@NetoMeter : KB281731 does not address any of the issues I faced. But I have applied this hotfix on my machine now and will test next time I try the migration and let you know.

Is there any place to look for the logs for a PF migration (failed/success). One thing I realized while doing this, when I followed Step 7, and looked at the ECP, there was a mailbox in the PF section but I could not see a PF under the public folder section. So it apparently did not import and must have failed there.
