POP3 Connector or ??
I'm currently running Small Business Server 2003 (exchange 2003)with POP3 connector for email. Our ISP is Time-Warner Telecom who also hosts the website and has the POP3 mailboxesexchange retrieves mail from.I'mplanning a upgrade to Small Business Server 2008 (exchange 2007) andwantadvice onbest way tosetup exchange. I would like to get rid of the Time-Warner hosted mailboxes and POP3 connector and use the SBS 2008 server to directly send/receive email. How involved is this and has anyone had experiencewith TW-telecom. I'm thinking that they will have to change current routing from their server toour server?Any articles, technotes,etc..would be helpful

Firstly, SBS does also have a POP3 connector if you wish to upgrade first and the address mail-rerouting second. To change mailflow from your ISP to your exchange server you need to simply update the MX record for your domain name. The mail setup wizard in SBS 2008 discusses this and guides you in each step.Ensure you have port 25 open to your exchange server and make sure you have antivirus/spam protection. Your ISP probably already has this, and it will now be your responsibility once you update the MX.

Hi,You need to update the MX record to make your SBS is pointed, then the external email will connect your SBS to deliver the email directly.Additionally, please check the Receive Connector to make the Anonymous user is not checked and the SMTP port 25 is listening.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc794273(WS.10).aspxThanksAllen
