POP3 Service
hi I have a Windows 2003 server with Exchange 2003. The problem I'm having is when I reboot the server the POP3 does not seem to work until I go into the Exchange System Manager and start it, even though it is setup in Services to start Automatically, and it shows that its started. But when you go into the System Manager it shows the red X and you have to start it. There is this error in Application Log "An error occurred while starting the Microsoft Exchange POP3 Service: server instance number 1 failed to start with error 0x80040a01." please advice

Hi, Please attempt the following method to check the issue: 1. Open Registry Edit 2. Navigate to the following registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\POP3Svc3 3. Right click on DependOnService entry and select modify 4. In a new line below IISAdmin entry type in MSExchangeSA and click Okay. 5. Close registry editor and reboot server to check the result. Mike
