Password Managers in Enterprise setup?
<!-- StartFragment-->Dear Admins, I have a few questions for those of you who are Admins in an enterprise setup. How do you enforce password management in a company? For example- Company XYZ comprises of 1 IT Admin – IT1 10 employees – A1, B2, C3, D4, E5, F6, G7, H8, I9, J10 How do the ten employees share records, documents, web logins, password, codes, credit card numbers, serials, FTP account, PINs, etc? Our company (cant name it here, but it has been the #1 password manager on mobile platforms) has come up with a solution for this- Here is a brief description ----------------------------------------------- There are 3 components in System- 1) MySQL Server (database) 2) Admin application (used by Admin) 3) Client application (used by Employee) MySQL Server – Enterprise records are encrypted and stored in a MySQL database server. MySQL server can run on Windows, Linux or Mac. Enterprise Admin application (used by Admin)– Admin application requires root access to the MySQL server. Admin application is used for User Management (to create, edit, delete users and assign permissions) on the system. Admin can run on Windows or Mac. Enterprise Client application (used by Employee) – Employee installs the Enterprise client application on their system. Client application can run on Windows or Mac. Admin needs to provide employee with Enterprise user log in details Groups can be created as per company requirements. Basically Groups are Departments or Categories in a company, that contains a set of records. Groups can be set up to allow only a certain users to have access to the records in the Group. Groups can be created on the Admin application or Client application (provided the employee has the permission to create a Groups) For example, lets create a Group called ‘Engineering’, where only the three Employees B2, D4 and G7 have access to the records in this Group. ----------------------------------------------- My questions- 1) Would you be willing to beta test this system? 2) What do you suggest is the best way for the Admin to deploy 10 desktop client applications on 10 different systems (could be a mix of Windows and Mac) <!-- EndFragment-->
