Personal Macro Workbook does not open (Excel 2010)

If I open a workbook from Windows Explorer, the Personal Macro workbook does not open, although it is still present in the correct directory and opens if I open Excel and then load the workbook I wish to use from there.

Response to the thread Excel 2010 - export to excel does not load personal workbook ... suggests this may be expected if another programme opens excel, but explorer seems to have been exempt in the past. Has something changed in a recent update?

Hi,

Try the following steps to check the issue:

1. Make sure that PERSONAL.XLSB is not in disabled section of Add-in.

2. Go to Trust Centre and make sure that user auto start and excel auto start
is pointing to valid folder.

3. Make sure whatever file you want to load is there.

Just for posterity:

Also check the that the add-in is not disabled.

I am having the same problem and have checked the above proposed solution. No add-ins are disabled. I also checked trusted sites and the location of the personal.xlsb file (in folder xlstart) is listed. It seems opening an excel file opens a separate instance (or from a different location?) of excel than opening directly from the application.

I too am having the same issue with a user on our network.

All other users do not have this issue and all the settings are the same on each users.

We work in a Citrix environment and no one else is experiencing this.

I've been able to recreate it using this users id and password on other Citrix servers.

Have done a rebuild of her profile and that did not work.

I can run this on a local laptop also. but when I login as this user, the problem exists.

It only works if you double click on the person.xlsb file.

All Trusted items are ok, all Add-Ins are ok, etc.

Just this one user whenever she tries to run her macro (ALT-F8) her macro windows opens with no macro listed with Macros in: All Open Workbooks.

Also when I press ALT-F11 & Ctrl-R there is nothing there except the MS Excel Objects with Sheet1-Sheet3 and This Workbook.

I was expecting to see the Personal XLSB with the single module.

I've tried rebuilding the Personal.xlsb and that did not work.

Strange part was this was working for her until 2 weeks ago.
